Vedere

Vedere is proud to announce their collaboration with the Southampton Animal Dog Shelter, to sell custom-made doghouses and dog beds displayed and judged at the American Society of Interior Designers' (ASID) first annual “Summer Social with a Bite”.

The roots are cast from trees in the Flatbush, Brooklyn neighborhood where I live. On top of the roots are paint and images from the neighborhood many from the candlelight vigils that took place here. These pieces were done after 9/11 and represent how the people from the community held the neighborhood together similar to the way roots hold the earth together. There is a large Muslim population in this community who were under attack at the time and the dialogue that was started by the candlelight vigils and different neighborhood groups stopped the violence that was taking place.
